Yi-Lun Jheng holds a PhD in Social Sciences (Education Sciences and Communication Sciences) from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, under the supervision of Prof. David Gijbels, Prof. Karolien Poels, and Dr. Leen Catrysse. She examines the emotional and cognitive processes involved in learning from texts, with a particular focus on health (mis)information.
Using a multi-method approach, she combines self-reports, eye tracking, and psychophysiological measures to capture the dynamic nature of readers’ experiences during text processing. Additionally, she develops innovative computer-based tools and educational technologies to advance both research and practical applications in learning and communication.
Her overarching goal is to advance understanding of how individuals process, comprehend, and critically evaluate complex or controversial information, ultimately contributing to the design of more effective and impactful educational and communication strategies that foster resilient and informed societies.
